The travel distance between Florence and Greece really isn’t that bad, but Brittany and I made it a little harder on ourselves. We traveled from Florence to Rome by train. Then from the Rome train station had to take another train to the airport. We were going to take a bus to the airport but the gentleman said it would take 2 hours with Rome traffic. We had to quickly reroute.
The Rome airport was an absolute mess; we had to run to our gate to make our flight. We finally made it to Athens, and we took a bus to our hotel. We made it there around 8 o’clock after a full 13 hour day of traveling. We ate an incredible Greek dinner at a restaurant called 4 Brothers. Once we were done, we got to bed early because we had to be up for our ferry ride to Mykonos by 6:15 am.
The ferry took about five hours, but it was beautiful and the water was glass. Once we made it to the port in Mykonos we got to our beautiful hotel that over looks Platy Gialos beach. We went into Mykonos town the first night and I got gyros at a little restaurant called Gyros Corner. They were amazing to say the least.
It is nice not having to worry about sight seeing in Mykonos because after a week of midterms, it’s nice to just relax in the sun. The weather is about 70-75 with some breeze. Perfect weather in my mind.
Britt and I have definitely been living study abroad to its fullest over fall break and have been relaxing to the max with our hot stone massages. After two full days in Mykonos, we are headed to Santorini and can’t wait to see what’s in store!
I’m sorry I haven’t been posting but between studying, packing, and traveling, life has been a little busy. I will post about my trip to Amalfi Coast when I am home and back in Florence.
