All The Mother’s Day Gift Ideas You Need

May 1, 2019

I took to Instagram stories to find out what you all really wanted in terms of Mother’s Day content this year and a Mother’s Day gift guide won by a landslide.  My “Mom’s favorite things” was the second option, so I thought it might be fun to switch things up!

To get the best of both worlds, I am going to have my Mom create this Mother’s Day gift guide. I am passing the reigns over to her for the day.  I hope you all love her picks!

Hey! I’m Megan’s Mom, Julie. Meg asked me to put my two cents in on a few of my favorite things for the Mother’s Day Gift Guide. Here are a few of the things that have received or purchased lately that I am LOVING (and a broad range of price points, too!)

Jewelry

Mark and Graham monogrammed necklace. Mine is tortoise with three initials. I love it because I can dress it up or down and it fits well with a multitude of necklines.

Kendra Scott Earrings. Mine are the smaller style and gold. I wear these so often and they’re conservative enough to look polished at work and sassy enough to wear to a wedding.

David Yurman ring. This was one of my favorite Christmas gifts! Yes, definitely a little higher on the scale in terms of price but this ring gets the WOW factor. In comes in a multitude of colors and is a statement piece, for sure.

Higher End Skincare. Give the Mother’s Day gift of Beauty.

My new thing is BeautyCounter! The Body Butter is life-changing, luxuriously thick but not greasy. Every woman needs this after the shower, and smells light and citrusy!

BeautyCounter Peel. This has helped with weird, patchy dryness that I’ve had over the winter. Works wonders.

Origins Under Eye Cream is so light and has a subtle shimmer to it. Makes a big difference with puffiness and circles.

Fashion Staples, that are perfect for every Mother.

Sperry Plaid Slides. These are soooo comfortable! Cute with worn jeans, khakis to work or a white pencil skirt. The possibilities are endless.

Modern Trench CoatTalbots. I love fashion statements from Talbots! Their clothes have definitely become a little more flirty with scalloped edges and eyelet sleeves, etc. This trench is blush and is slightly longer which is great with pants or a skirt. This coat is on SALE, too! My blogger daughter will be so proud 🙂 *30% off online with the code FRIENDS30*

Boat & Tote Zip Tip bag from LL Bean. This bag’s usefulness is simply endless! It comes in an array of colors and is eligible for mongramming (What could be better?! Sorry, @jesskeys_!)

Beauty Tools

Slip Pillow Covers. They claim these save your face from waking up with lines but that has yet to be seen. I love these simply because they are so soft and cool to the touch.

Slip Sleep Mask. I love this mask because it doesn’t smash your eye lids! A little bit of luxury goes a long way.

Electric Make Up Brush Cleaner. I think I have more fun watching this work than anything else. I drop of liquid brush cleaner in the reservoir with some warm water and BAM! Brushes like brand new. (Plus you can “spin” them dry!) Weeeeeee!

I am adding another one here because I personally really want this. Everyone is talking about this new Revlon hair dryer that is rounded.  It looks like it dries your hair faster and fuller. Everything I need!

Gadgets, that are acceptable as a Mother’s Day Gift.

AirPods. I personally don’t have my own but I steal Sarah’s and they’re a dream. So light-weight and comfortable and the sound is amazing.

Blue Light Glasses. These really do help reduce eye strain, I’ve noticed it! I have been using mine for almost a year now. It’s nice to know I can look cute and do something good for my eyes, as well.

Diffuser. This one is so cool because it changes colors (if you want) and has a couple settings to play with. I’m using mine with essential oil “Chill Pill” to add an extra element of relaxation before bed.

Little Things

Calvin Klein Women Eau de Parfum. New fav! I’ve been wearing something light and “florally” for years and this was a nice fragrance to switch things up a bit. *Use the code FRIENDS for 15% off*- you’re welcome 🙂

Beauty blenders. I just started using these when I switched to Beautycounter.  Dampen them, it makes a huge difference.  Your makeup and your face will thank you.

Chinoiserie vases. Can’t get enough. Period. End of story!

Experiences

Kohler Spa at American Club. Everything about this spa is done well. The products they use, the services they provide, and the atmosphere are like none I have ever seen before.  I highly recommend visiting Kohler, WI.

Tea at The Drake, Chicago. If you are looking for a traditional, old fashioned tea service, The Drake is famous for their afternoon tea.  Their tea selection is unusual and their finger sandwiches are my favorite. Go at Christmas for a special treat too!

The Riverwalk in Chicago has so many new places to stop to grab a drink, a light lunch, or a small plate dinner.  End your afternoon or evening by jumping on an architectural tour or rent your own motor boat/cruise to go up and down the river.

For the House. Acceptable options for a Mother’s Day Gift.

(this is the last category for a reason… My Mom does NOT approve of this category, but some Moms would like something for the house)

Keurig with frother connected. This is so easy and has changed the way I can drink coffee.  It gives me options in the morning.  Instead of a plain cup, I can fancy it up in the morning with some froth!

Egg Cooker. I use this to quickly cook soft boiled, hard boiled, you name it!  You get a perfect egg every time. This item could not be any cuter sitting on the counter too.  I bought the aqua!

Lazy Susan from Sur la table. I have had this for years. It sits in the middle of my kitchen table and looks as good as the first day that I received it as a gift.

Mother's Day gift

It’s Meg again. This was so fun everyone! I hope you loved this post as much as I do.  I think it is one of my favorites on my blog because my Mom REALLY wrote it all by herself.  You know it has the mom stamp of approval.

Thank you for following along.

Talk soon,

Megan
