What I am Reading, Watching, and Listening to During Quarantine
I have found a lot of peace if I don’t focus on what day of quarantine we are in or how many more days we have left. If we do that, we are dwelling on the past and the uncertainty of the future. Let’s focus on the present.
I have been working, trying to keep my mental health up, and filling my quiet time with activities other than my phone.
Take a browse through this list to see what I have been reading, watching, and listening to during my quarantine days.
What I am Reading
Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis
Rachel Hollis debunks the most common things you will tell yourself as an excuse. She breaks down why you should be chasing your dreams. I find myself nodding my head during many of the pages. If you are someone who wishes they were in a different place if life right now, grab this one.
The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy
This isn’t a typical read. It is more of a daily inspirational. Everyday, you can open the book to any page and read a short sentence. There is usually an important life message/lesson. I have loved grabbing it in the morning, in the middle of the day, or just anytime I wan’t to try and change my mindset.
The Miracle Morning: The Not-So-Obvious Secret Guaranteed to Transform Your Life- Before 8 AM by Ha Elrod
I started this book most recently and I am only a few chapter in. It is another self improvement book. You can see I have a theme going with my quarantine books! This book provides guidance fora productive morning, that will then effect the rest of your day.
I’ve Been Thinking by Maria Shriver
This is a quick read, filled with short reflections, stories, and prayers. It is a great book for anyone in any season of life. I have found it helpful when I am feeling confident and happy or helpful when I feel confused and unaccomplished. If you like the idea of reading just a few page before bed, this is the perfect book.
Updates from the Illinois Restaurant Association
If you don’t know, my family is in the restaurant industry. Our restaurants are fully closed. The Illinois Restaurant Association has been an incredible resource for us to gain a better understanding of what is going on and how we can help our staff.
What I am Watching
Love Is Blind
This was good! Many people have reviewed it as being better than Bachelor/Bachelorette. I wouldn’t say that. However, it was a nice change of pace. It’s also an interesting social experiment to think about. If a season 2 came out, I would definitely watch it.
Tiger King
Am I proud? Nope. However, I binged it in one day. I felt like I needed to just get it out of the way so I knew what the heck everyone was referencing.
Rachel Hollis Live Morning Show
Starting your morning on the right foot is key. Every morning, Rachel Hollis goes Instagram Live. I LOVE listening to it. It is always uplifting. She and her husband, Dave, usually have some fun stories to share. They are usually sweaty from just working out, which is also motivational. You can listen to them every morning at 8 AM CST.
Quarantine Crew Tik Toks
Alright. I’ll admit. I am a Tyler + Hannah Brown supporter. When quarantine first started, they were creating Tik Toks that were really good with their friends. You can also find them on the handle quarantinecrew on Instagram. I like watching a group of people, close to my age, all having fun together, since most of us can’t do that right now.
Disney+
Disney+ has brought so much nostalgia to my house! Yes, I have already watched all of the Toy Story movies. I watched Frozen 2 for the first time too. What are your favorite Disney movies? Take a trip down memory lane.

RISE podcast by Rachel Hollis
Rachel Hollis is a great, tough-loving, inspirational speaker. I am sure you have all heard of her. She is putting out some great motivational content about being quarantined right now. I love the episode called “How to Choose Joy”, episode 141.
Musical Therapy playlist by Spotify
If you are struggling in this season with anxiety, sleepless nights, moments of stress in the day, throw on this playlist. I find a lot of comfort when I listen to meditations or music that can allow me to just relax.

Are you considering starting some type of online business in this weird season of life? Give Julie Solomon a listen. She will do a great job with helping you gather your thoughts and main message. When I start to feel off track, I will go back to her episodes.
